If I’m using millet or sorghum, does the water ratio change since I’m not using Coco coir? I plan on testing for field capacity afterwards, but wanted to know if the water ratio would be more with grain compared to Coco.

Absolutely freaking phenomenal!!!!! I woke up this morning not knowing a dam thing about mycology. I mistyped a word that thrust me head first into this rabbit hole !!! I found out it's legal to purchase certain spores for "research" in the US ! Its a little after 3pm now and I have 4 strains coming, Stargazer, APE, Hillbilly and Blue Meanie! I went to Walmart at lunch and got all the supplies for the monotub and as much as the bulk substrate I could find as I couldn't find the vermiculite and I just got finished fabricating a grow closet where I can monitor and maintain the temperature and humidity!!!! Needless to say I'm freaking excited as hell 2025 is definitely going to kick major ass !!!!! Thank you so much for this comprehensive video ! I was able to learn several things I didn't learn throughout the several videos I've watched so far !!!!

Instead of drilling you can use a hot coat hanger or soldering iron to poke holes

A couple of days ago I took my bag out and broke it up and mixed it was two weeks and seemed to be growing slow, so mixed it well most growth on bottom and around the port. Any way mixed it very well and checked it yesterday I had growth all over it little white specks had grown all over in the bag it was great. And I think I will be have a full bag of mycelium soon I have my mono tub and have been watching your videos on how to do that. Can’t wait. Thanks so much.

Mine isn’t colonizing as nicely as yours it’s been 7 days; there are a few spots. I took a sniff it’s earthy…is there anything else I can do?

nice video, do you guys think I can just use a rubber band to seal my bag and use over and over? I got it as a gift lol Im used to using jars. also a tip on agar, when you cut your wedges or do anything in agar, do not move your hand over tha agar ever, the blade sure but not anything else, this is most likely the cause of contam at end.

Amazing video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. My question now is, why do I sometimes see packed canopies and some other times I see not as many mushrooms spread across the monotub? What makes that yield difference? Is it due to the strain? fruiting conditions? Would love some points of view on this matter. Thanks!

I only have about 3 or 4 mushrooms that are about an inch in length. But I don’t see any other pins. I need help. Wish there was a helpline I could call or someone I could send pictures to for suggestions

I would like to ask why you use Spores in a petri dish once and cut a mushroom the second time. thank you :) I don't understand what is the difference in creating mycelium from part of the fungus or through spores? My understanding is that you can use the spores if you don't have fresh mushrooms and you clone the mycelium right when you collect fresh mushrooms?

Thanks for the great video, I have a question though. My first batch I did in early spring, I didn’t have humidity problems, now in the summer and it being very dry and warm where I am, my monotubs are struggling with humidity. I replaced the red caps on the tub except for 1 hole, and I sprayed the sides just once and it’s been doing better. I’ve been airing it twice a day since I’m in the fruiting stage and have the red caps in to keep humidity, is this series of events gonna prevent a nice grow? How should I move forward as far as the FAE I’m giving to the tubs? Thank you!

THANK YOU this seems easy enough to follow and you have convinced me to make the final commitment with growing my own mushrooms. Where again, if you don't mind me asking, did you buy your spawn bag and spore injectors? I want to go with a reputable source and don't feel comfortable making my own homemade blend as a newbie at this time LOL. Also....I would totally buy one of your monotubs if still selling/making them.

I'm currently colonizing rice packets (Uncle Ben Tek). I'm using a total of three bags at 8.8 oz each. Do you think this recipe would give me the appropriate amount of substrate to support three bags of spawn? I normally use 5lbs of sub but this recipe equates to just under 2.4lbs. Curious about anyone's thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.

After a few days in the inflatable monotub I see a very light condensation and mycelium branching out on the top (reaching towards the sky, not just spread across the substrate) should I increase humidity by spraying some cool, boiled water on the walls of the tub? This is about 3-4 days after S2B. It doesn’t look nearly as developed as yours? Granted my bulk substrate to spawn ratio was different. I did a 1.5lb spawn bag to about 175g of coco, 175g of verm, 25g of gypsum. Also I was getting pins up to an inch tall of GT in my spawn bag at the injection port, so maybe I did S2B too late? Also I picked up the tub after S2B and since the bottom isn’t rigid the cake kind of broke apart in some places as the weight dipped in the center, is this problematic at all?

I have a couple of questions if you don't mind about what is happening inside my grow bag

If youre using your bathroom, like most of us probably... and this might be obvious but im gunna say it anyways, clean and sterile your bathroom. Floors, counters, toilet, everything. Might be alot of work but it beats wasting a month and having to start over. And youll have a clean bathroom afterwards
